“5 Favorites” is a recurring feature here at Pixelvania Publishing. On the last Friday of every month, I post 5 FAVORITE THINGS I’ve recently (or not-so-recently) enjoyed, in case you’re looking for something neat to experience. Visit the 5 Favorites archive for more recommendations.
🎩 5 Time Saving Style Tips
I’m a big fan of Ginger Burr’s fashion tips—like, I consider her up there with Carmindy (all you What Not to Wear babies say hey!) as far as giving advice that helps people accentuate their own personal beauty rather than cookie-cutter-ing their look chasing the latest trend. In particular, her practice of discovering your “Beauty Words” is life-changing. But this post isn’t about Beauty Words, it’s about looking good a little faster every day!
📖 🏘️ Neighborhood Watch by Sally Johnson
My clean-romance-writer friend Sally Johnson recently tried her hand at writing a domestic suspense novel, inspired by Rear Window of all things. (I was lucky enough to typo patrol for her so I got to read it early, heehee.)
The nice thing about Neighborhood Watch is that, while it’s got sleuthing, it’s not all gory or bloody or anything. It’s “not-so-scary” suspense with a dose of humor. It’s gotten great reception so far, so I thought I’d let you know so you could support another great indie author!
🎧️ King Kong Company Feat. Bobby Fingers – The Machine
A very catchy song with an intriguing music video. Bobby Fingers is great and weird and probably PG-13 at least.
🧩 Puzzmo
I initially came here for the word game Bongo, but I keep coming back for the daily crossword, which, for me, perfectly balances cleverness, difficulty, and more modern (or relevant) references. My playwright friend has a love-hate relationship with Pile-up Poker. I also like the Weather Memoku, even though sometimes the tiles are like…wut?? Why are we using hot mugs of cocoa for a puzzle illustrating 80-degree weather?
🍪 Dark Chocolate Oreos
Since the disappearance of my beloved Posties (Post Malone Oreos (review here), I’ve had to settle for these. But they’re good—lots better than the OG, if you ask me (the OG Oreo has a chemical taste to me.) OREO, BRING BACK MY POSTIES!! 😭
Have you tried any of these? Let me know in the comments!
